During the Middle Ages, bookmarks became more elaborate. They were often made from vellum or parchment and decorated with colorful illustrations or metalwork.
The 19th century saw the rise of mass-produced bookmarks. They were made from a variety of materials, including silk, paper, and metal, and often featured advertising or sentimental messages.
Today, bookmarks come in a wide range of styles and materials. They can be simple and functional or decorative and collectible.
Although bookmarks have evolved over time, their purpose has remained the same. They are a small but essential tool for any book lover.
How to use printable bookmarks
1. Click on desired image. You will be directed to a page connected to a file in cloud storage.
2. Use the browser options to print the page. You can print to a printer or to a PDF file (if your browser allows).
3. If your browser gives the option to print to PDF, adjust the desired settings and click ‘Print.’ When the pop-up window prompts you, select the name and place where you want to store the file on your device.
4. If you are printing to hardcopy, adjust the settings and print as usual. Cardstock paper recommended.
5. Trim and laminate (optional) then you’re good to go!
n.b. Each bookmark set has a second page that can be printed as backings. Alternatively, you can print the front page images on both sides of the bookmark.
